Why should I take this course?

Grow plants year round with soil-less growing. Hydroponics is a great growing option for anyone who wants control over the food they eat, or a better understanding of the food system. It’s also an excellent option for growers with limited space who don’t want to compromise on yield.

Learn at your own pace with our convenient online classes. Unlike in-person workshops, our courses are available year-round, with the same high quality education you expect, with the flexibility you need. Access your course on your schedule, and refer back to the lessons any time you need them.

What is Hydroponics?
Hydroponics is the practice of growing plants in nutrient-rich water, without soil. These systems use significantly less water than conventional growing practices and have very high yields. They are great for indoor growers, and anyone looking for an alternative to standard soil growing practices.

Samantha Hughes

Samantha Hughes grew up in Central Virginia, surrounded by farmland. Through school and her parents' encouragement, she became fascinated by the natural sciences. In college she studied environmental science, where she was introduced to sustainable agriculture for the first time. Since that time she has developed her knowledge, studying permaculture, regenerative agriculture, and hydroponics. She has worked on farms from New Jersey to North Carolina, and taken in person workshops to deepen her understanding of these important subjects. She founded Cultiverdant, and the Hooked On Ponics Academy in 2020 to provide educational access to anyone, anywhere you can access the internet. She lives in Maine with her husband, daughter, and their two dogs.
